Whether you’re a great golfer, or merely think you are, technology can usually help you improve your game. Today on Breakfast we looked at two quite different but equally brilliant golfing gadgets.
First up was the Golf Skate Caddy or GSC. The GSC was launched in New Zealand at last weekend’s BMW NZ Open in Queenstown. It acts like an electric skateboard for golfers and their clubs. Fully decked out for convenience – the GSC has a spring loaded seat, umbrella, USB charging station (perfect for your mobile phone of golf tracker/GPS), chiller box for food & beverages, score card holder, divot replacement storage, golf ball and tee holders. The Golf Skate Caddy also folds down to the size of a large golf bag and can be placed in the car boot and transported anywhere, no need for a Golf Cart trailer anymore!
The Golf Skate Caddy is amazingly easy to operate. You accelerate and brake by using a handheld trigger. Pulling the trigger towards you increases speed, and pushing it away activates the ABS brakes. Each unit comes with 4 programmable speeds, which is a simply brilliant idea for anyone wanting to get comfortable with the device before going all out.
1) Training speed: 5km p/h
2) Slow: 10km p/h
3) Medium: 15km p/h
4) Fast: 20km p/h (speed of your standard golf cart)

Next we had the all new Tomtom Golfer GPS Sportswatch. The Golfer is a GPS sports watch designed to make it easy for golfers to improve their game. Unique course graphics clearly show accurate distances to hazards and layups, and the best approach to the green.
The TomTom Golfer uses graphics to clearly show key golf course data from more than 34,000 golf courses across the globe on its extra-large screen. Course updates are delivered wirelessly via a unique smartphone app, so golfers can trust they are playing with the most up-to-date course information.
The light and durable TomTom Golfer is the latest addition to TomTom’s GPS sports watch range. It uses GPS technology to automatically recognise nearby courses and find the next hole. A golfer can also keep track of the score, distance and time of a round.
Additional features of TomTom Golfer include:
• Greenview – View unique green and hazard graphics before your shot.
• Hazards – See distances to individual hazards along the fairway.
• Green Distances – Precise yardages to front, centre and back of green.
• Round Tracking – Keep track of the score, distance, and time for your round.
• Lay-up- See remaining distances to lay-up points.
• Weather and water resistant – Play in any weather.
