Facebook has announced the launch of Facebook Shops for Facebook and Instagram which steps up the game for e-commerce in these social platforms.
Brought forward by the economic uncertainty caused by Covid, Facebook hopes to provide a connection for small businesses to their customers, while also tapping into the associated SMB advertising revenue stream.
Not only will this help small businesses to sell and retarget on Facebook, it will also give Facebook a trove of catalogue and user intent data that it will likely use to enhance its advertising offering to any advertiser looking for certain categories of shoppers.
Facebook Shop will integrate with Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and other 3rd party solutions.
