Finally a Dyson Fan for Under $100 — Meet the HushJet Mini

Dyson HushJet Mini Cool Fan

For a company that built its reputation on reinventing the vacuum cleaner, Dyson has spent a notable amount of the past 17 years thinking very hard about fans. Their bladeless towers are a fixture of upmarket offices and living rooms — expensive, effective, and quietly impressive. What they've never been, until now, is portable.

The HushJet Mini Cool Fan, available now at USD $99.99, is Dyson's answer to that gap. It weighs 212 grams — about the same as a large apple — and fits in your bag, your hand, or around your neck on the included lanyard. It's a personal fan, but made the way Dyson makes things.

What's Actually Inside

The motor is a brushless DC unit spinning at 65,000 RPM — the same family of technology that powers Dyson's full-size products. It pushes air at up to 25 metres per second (around 55mph) in boost mode through the HushJet nozzle, which focuses the airflow and cuts down on turbulence. The result is more of a directed breeze than a diffuse gust, and it's more comfortable for it.

There are five speed settings plus boost mode. At the top end it hits 72.5 dBA — noticeable, but not unreasonably loud for what it's doing. Wind it back to speed one and you're at 52 dBA, quieter than a normal conversation. If you've spent a summer suffering through a desk fan that sounds like a helicopter, that lower register will feel like a meaningful upgrade.

Battery Life and the Practical Stuff

Six hours of runtime from a 5000 mAh battery, with USB-C charging taking three hours to full. It comes with a charging stand, lanyard, and travel pouch — Dyson has thought about the full "carry it everywhere" use case, not just the hardware itself. That matters. A premium product that ships with a premium out-of-the-box experience is increasingly rare.

Additional accessories — a universal mount and grip clip — are coming in summer 2026, which should round out the desk and outdoor use cases nicely. The fan works equally well handheld, sitting on a desk, or worn around your neck, so there's genuine flexibility in how you use it.

Colour options are being staggered: the initial launch is followed by Carnelian/Sky in May and Ink/Cobalt in June, if you're prepared to wait for the right finish.

Is It Worth USD $99.99?

At that price, you're paying for the engineering and the brand — and with Dyson, that's generally a reliable trade. The real question isn't whether it works well (it clearly does), but whether you want a premium personal fan at all.

If you commute in summer heat, work outdoors, or simply live somewhere without adequate air conditioning, the case for it builds quickly. Dyson has spent nearly two decades moving air efficiently and quietly. Now, for the first time, they've made something you can take with you.
